What’s Happened To Jailbreaking ?

Well, Apple has always said that they will knock jailbreaking on the head and it looks much like they may have succeeded. Part of it is down to the new security features they included with iOS 10 and part of it is down to the accelerated update system they have in place, not giving the developers time to look at the iOS and find any exploits before they are patched.

Although usable jailbreaks are few and far between, there have been some demonstrated, notably one from Abraham Masri called Houdini. Although we have seen videos of this working, it isn’t a full jailbreak and there is no hint on whether it will actually be released or not, so we are still playing the waiting game.

And, we need to consider the Bug Bounty Program. Apple offers the chance to get a substantial reward for reporting exploits that they can then patch, and some developers have likely been tempted by this, preferring the cash to building a workable jailbreak. Truthfully, it doesn’t matter what the reason for the lack of jailbreaks is; the fact is we are struggling to get something that everyone can use.

Do try the iOS 12 jailbreak and see if it works for you; it doesn’t cost a thing to try and you could be one of the lucky ones. Follow us on Facebook and we’ll keep you up to date.
