Yalu Jailbreak

Yalu jailbreak has recently been released from the last place we expected. Italian hacker and developer Luca Todesco usually demonstrates jailbreaks but never release them, until now when he released Yalu Jailbreak in a surprise move. Yalu isn’t quite the jailbreak you have become used to installing though and here’s why.

Before Jailbreaking :

  • Yalu is a beta jailbreak and until it is updated, it is likely to be unstable and buggy. If you don’t need to jailbreak right now, it might be best to wait until it has been stabilized.
  • It cannot be installed directly on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. You need to use Cydia Impactor to side-load it and for that, you are going to need a valid Apple ID
  • Lastly, because Yalu is semi-untethered, it must be re-installed every time your iOS device is rebooted

How to Install Yalu Jailbreak :

  1. On your computer download Yalu Jailbreak .ipa file [ext link]
  2. Next download Cydia Impactor on your computer
  3. Ensure that you have the latest iTunes version and then back up your data as a precaution
  4. Disable the following on your iOS device, you can enable them again later. Touch ID, Passcode [ Settings > Touch ID and Passcode ], Find my iPhone| iPad [ Settings > iCloud > Find my iPhone | iPad
  5. Plug your iOS device into your computer
  6. Open Cydia Impactor on your computer and leave it open
  7. Now find the Yalu .ipa file and drag it to the window, dropping it in
  8. Input your Apple ID
  9. Leave Cydia Impactor to side load Yalu onto your device
  10. When the side-load is finished, disconnect your device and open Settings > General > Profile & Device Management
  11. Tap on Trust beside the certificate for Yalu or Mach_Portal
  12. Now you can tap the Mach_portal icon on your device home screen
  13. Wait while the process completes and your device resprings.
  14. Cydia will be on your home screen and the jailbreak has been successful
  15. If Cydia does not show up on your screen, just go back to Step 3 and repeat from there. You must follow these instructions exactly for the process to be successful.

Note :

  • If your Apple ID is a free one, the Yalu certificate will expire after 7 days and you will need to repeat Step 6 onwards , 12 months for paid developer IDs
  • Yalu is semi-untethered so, whenever your device reboots, repeat from Step 12 onwards each time to reinstall the jailbreak.
